You just can’t make this stuff up!! The birth of Mission Hills provides the same sense of wonderment as being a new parent – from being in awe to being a full-time preoccupation. One thing I’ve experienced like never before is that no amount of talent, creativity, skill, or resource can produce growth or life change. And yet, as I learn to yield to God by faith, the dream starts to become reality.

Friends…It’s already becoming reality. I see it because of so many of you. True story!

Two weeks ago, as part of our transition plan, we shared that our initial support from Riverbend Church will go from $5,000 per month to $2,500 per month in 2017. For our small-but-vibrant church, a $30,000 gap in our second year is daunting. However, God is stirring! Last week, a family who’s excited about the growth of Mission Hills offered to match dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000, which would enable us to "Fill the Gap” 100%. In other words, we could already be halfway there! In this season of giving, it’s exciting to see any gift double. Just to be clear, this family is making this pledge by faith, and the amount is above-&-beyond their regular giving. Their desire is to allow others to experience God’s blessing, as they have, when we learn to trust God with finances.

The heart of Mission Hills Church encourages faith to be expressed. The Rhythms emerge as a way to know God, form Christ in us, share faith with those in need, and apprentice others in the way of Christ. My request is that you pray and act in faith. Pray about an amount that is above-&-beyond your regular giving.

The Apostle Paul suggests faith expressed in giving can help us experience God’s presence & inspire others.

“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Cor. 9:8-11

As we prepare our 2017 budget, we’re praying about how we might “Fill The Gap” together, by faith. This is a chance for us – as an extended family of faith – to grow out of infancy and into adolescence. Please respond by our Christmas Eve service on Dec.24th. For giving and budget related questions, please contact Theo Smith (
